Unneeded Medication Disposal

If you’ve got medications (prescription or over the counter) that you are no longer using, take them to the VMA office for proper disposal during office hours (9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) on Monday through Thursday.

There is a bin in the VMA Office for putting unexpired, unopened non-prescription medications that are available for anyone to take.  The bin is also used for miscellaneous unused medical supplies, such as pill dispensers, sharps containers, etc.  This bin is labeled “FREE Take Anything you can use”

Do not put your medications in the trash or flush them down the toilet. The VMA takes the medications to the sheriff’s department for proper disposal.

The VMA accepts donations of unopened incontinence supplies – these are kept in VMA restroom for anyone to take.

VMA Partnerships

Senior Resource Services

Senior Resource Services (SRS) consists of approximately a dozen Villager business professionals with expertise in areas such as health and property insurance, personal and property taxes, investment and finance, and Veterans benefits. These professionals provide their expertise free of charge to Villagers. SRS’s volunteer professionals staff the office at Cribari Center Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. SRS volunteers provide education and general information through workshops, articles in The Villager newspaper, distribution of brochures and booklets, and personal consulting. For additional information stop by the office during office hours or call SRS 408-239-5253.

Charitable Outreach Program

As a 50I(c)3 organization, the VMA is committed to not only serving Villagers but reaching out to others in the community in need of help. The Charitable Outreach Program is one way we are able to do this. Since 1992 Charitable Outreach volunteers have been making and distributing lap robes, scarves, caps, booties, adult bibs, walker carry-bags/pouches, and gifts suitable for Bingo prizes to five convalescent homes. In 2016, Charitable Outreach expanded its program to reach out to those living on the streets, in emergency overnight shelters, and in extended-stay shelters. Articles distributed to the homeless include rain ponchos, hooded sweatshirts, new socks, new underwear, tee-shirts, warm neck scarves and caps, and toiletry items. For questions contact the Charitable Outreach Program Manager Pam Leonard, call  408-613-2194, or email pleonard43@comcast.net
